Behind the Scenes of the September 11th Rehearsal: What You Need to Know

We had a great rehearsal last night. Bob lead us in singing barbershop tags as a warm up. It was great seeing his passion, singing skill level, teaching ability, and his presentation. We are blessed to have Bob as a part of our group.
Poor Liz, she is a sweetheart! Liz comes every rehearsal to play the piano for us. Since we don't have a really good idea about the attendance until the time of rehearsal (Bill, Liz, and I are there every rehearsal), it is difficult to plan a rehearsal schedule. Last night our rehearsal was such that we didn't need her services. She listened to the rehearsal for awhile and then we excused her. Thanks for being there for us Liz!
The group then read through three pieces, and we decided as group that we want to perform a barbershop version of "Hallelujah" (Cohen) and a spiritual, "Little Innocent Lamb".
We also decided that we would rehearse in room 105 and not the sanctuary because of the acoustics being better suited for the group to hear each other and work on the proper blend.
We had a quartet that included Bill, Bob, the new member Ron, and myself. We need tenors to join our group because we had one of the members singing in head tones, and I am sure it wasn't that pleasant to hear.
There has been a lot of work done in the background. The organizer and conductor of the group has spent countless hours in recruiting members and selecting music along with performing score study. We could use some help in the recruiting phase of the operation, so if you know anyone who might want to help, send me an e-mail: dsuffel@gmail.com
Our plans for the rest of the year for this group is to occasionally sing at church services, if we can - have a Fall and Christmas concert, go Christmas caroling, sing at local Salvation Army events, and perhaps some community events.
Well, thanks for taking the time to read this. Your feedback on this blog is welcome.
